Meet the Plants and Make Medicine this Spring

**This workshop is full.  Contact Erin at herbalisterin@outlook.com to be placed on the waiting list.  I teach this class every year; check back next spring.  Keep your eye out for other offerings later in the season.

This is one of my most popular offerings of the year.

Join me, herbalist, Erin Piorier, at a farm in the beautiful Cannon Valley for a Spring day of exploring the forest, gathering herbs, medicine making and herbal education. We’ll spend our morning hiking into pristine Minnesota hardwood forest to meet the beautiful Spring Ephemerals—those wildflowers that only show their faces before the leaves on the trees burst out. We will see many beautiful flowers and useful medicinals including Bloodroot, Trillium, Wild Ginger, Blue Cohosh, Hepatica, Trout Lily, Spring Beauty and many more.  During our walk I will identify and teach about a wide variety of local native and naturalized medicinal plants.  On our way we will gather herbs to make a delicious seasonal herbal tonic syrup and when we get back to the farmhouse I will demonstrate the process. Everyone will get a bottle to take home. Our afternoon will be spent making and exploring herbal medicine. Experienced medicine makers may independently harvest and tincture many of the herbs abundant on the farm.  Beginners will be guided through the process.  Some of the many plants that may be available this time of year at the farm include Raspberry Leaf, Red Clover, Mullein Leaf, Cleavers, Horsetail, Violets, Nettles, Catnip, Motherwort, Shepherd’s Purse, Cinquefoil and others.

All of the images in this post were taken by the talented Sharri Keller of Terra Sura Photography at the 2016 workshop. The 2017 workshop will be in the same  lovely location. Sharri will be teaching about plant photography at the 2017 Minnesota Herbal Education Festival in September.

**This workshop involves up to two miles of hiking over moderately challenging (hilly/rocky) terrain. Please call me if you are uncertain that this class will work with your physical limitations.
