Happy Solstice, Plant Lovers!

I hope you are enjoying Summer’s bounty as much as I am!

From top, clockwise:

Chamomile tincture in the beginning stages

Chickweed blooms in my yard during wetter times

Solomon’s Seal is lovely medicine from the shady side.

Lost Crafts:  a really cool book

Herb Garden in a big metal pail. It’s great to have herbs right outside your doorstep:  White Sage, Lime Basil, Chamomile, Thyme, Purple Basil, Parsley, Oregano, Cilantro

Magnificent Elecampane Leaves. The foiliage of this medicinal plant is really arresting.

Strawberries:  I’ve been getting a bowl every day.

    1. I have long thought of putting together a calendar of what to wildcraft and when but it’s a bit of a daunting task. But briefly, right now what I see that’s harvestable around and about the greater Twin Cities area: Sweet Melilot, Elder Blossoms, Linden Blossoms, Yarrow, Red Clover, Violet Leaves (still), Chickweed (it’s been nice and damp so it looks good in a lot of places), Scouring Rush, Rose Petals, Cinquefoil, Pinapple Weed. And of course, lots of garden plants like Lemon Balm, Wood Betony, Chamomile, Calendula.

    2. Thank you SO much!!! I’ve heard there’s been a lot of great elder blossoms from a friend who works on the Tatanka food truck in the cities… They’ve been making elderflower syrup to serve with their creations. I’ve got a few good spots to wildcraft (St. Cloud area) and I’ve gotten violets, chickweed, and dandelion so far this year. Thank you sooooo very much for sharing!
